"Reflections" is a recording of Sufjan Stevens' sixth collaboration with acclaimed choreographer Justin Peck. Originally commissioned for performances (May 17-26, 2019) by Houston Ballet, the piano duet was recorded at Oktaven Studios by Ryan Streber and performed by pianists Timo Andres and Conor Hanick.
"Reflections" is characteristic Stevens: dynamic, melodic, memorable, emotionally resonant, and playful (one track is titled "And I Shall Come To You Like A Stormtrooper in Drag Serving Imperial Realness").
Though Stevens may be best known for his singer-songwriter catalog, "Reflections" - alongside other compositions like "The BQE" and "The Decalogue" - further establishes him as a contemporary composer.
